Declaration on Accessibility

Schloss Schönbrunn Kultur- und Betriebsges.m.b.H endeavours to make its websites accessible in compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) for implementing Guideline (EU) 2016/2102 issued on 26 October 2016 by the European Parliament and the Council on free accessibility to websites and on enabling free accessibility to the mobile devices of public bodies.

This declaration on accessibility applies to the website www.sisimuseum-hofburg.at

Status of compatibility with the requirements

On account of the following incompatibilities and exceptions, this website is partly compatible with the level of conformance AA of the ‘Web Content Accessibility Guidelines’ – WCAG 2.1’, respectively with the valid European standard EN 301 549 V2.1.2 (2018-08).

Non-accessible content

The contents stated below are not accessible for the following reasons:

a) Incompatibility with the accessibility guidelines

Success Criterion 1.1.1 ‘Non-text Content’

The background video on the homepage is short, decorative, includes neither sound nor text and is therefore not controllable. The background video is furnished with a descriptive alternative text.

Success Criterion 1.4.3 ‘Contrast (Minimum)’

The claim on the homepage is set on real image, which means that the contrast also varies depending on the respective screen size and possibly does not fulfil the Success Criterion 1.4.3 (Contrast). The claim is very large-scale; in choosing the background image, respectively background video, we take care to provide an excellent contrast ratio.

Success Criterion 2.1.1 ‘Keyboard’

The interactive map is usable through keyboard input and screen readers only to a limited extent. This might mean that Success Criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard) is not fulfilled. As an alternative to the map, the content pages can be navigated without the map via room respectively location descriptions in the planned sequence.

b) Disproportionate Burdening

Success Criterion 1.2.5 ‘Audio Description (Prerecorded)’

Our videos are hosted and published on the video platform YouTube. It is not possible to provide the required audio descriptions for some of these videos. This means that the WCAG Success Criterion 1.2.5 (Audio Description Prerecorded) is not fulfilled. It is our view that a correction would represent disproportionate burdening in terms of the Accessibility Guidelines.

We endeavour to provide alternatives for time-based media as text.

c) The content does not come within the scope of application of the applicable legal provisions.

Mainly older pdf documents and Office documents are not equipped to be accessible. For example, pdf documents are not tagged, which means information cannot be entered and used – or adequately entered and used – by screen reader users. Thus the WCAG Success Criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value) is not fulfilled.

Prerecorded time-based media such as video and audio media published prior to 23 September 2020.

Content of third parties which does not lie within the Schönbrunn Group sphere of influence is excluded from the Guideline (EU) 2016/2102.

Creation of this Declaration on Accessibility

This declaration was produced on 23 September 2020.

The website’s compatibility with the WG for implementing the requirements of the Guideline (EU) 2016/2102 is evaluated in the form of a self-test according to WCAG 2.1, level of conformance AA.

This declaration was last updated on 7 October 2020.
