Public transport lines which take you directly to the Hofburg

Underground: U3 (orange), alight at Herrengasse

Wiener Linien

The Sisi Museum at the Hofburg lies at the centre of Vienna and can best be reached by underground or other public transport.

Important information:  From January 29, 2026, access to the Sisi Museum will change temporarily. Access with valid tickets will be via the Kaisertor.

The ticket office is located directly to the left of the Kaisertor.

On leaving Vienna International Airport take the A4 motorway heading towards Vienna city centre, then follow signs for the Ring, which takes you directly to the Hofburg

Arriving from the south on the A2 motorway head for Vienna city centre until you get to the Opera, then turn onto the Ring which takes you directly to the Hofburg

Arriving from the west on the A1 motorway head for Vienna city centre until you get to the Opera, then turn onto the Ring which takes you directly to the Hofburg

From the Westbahnhof (western railway terminal), journey time approximately 15 minutes. Take the eastbound U3 (orange) underground line and alight at Herrengasse

From Meidling, journey time approximately 25 minutes. Take the U6 (brown) underground line and alight Westbahnhof and change to the eastbound U3 (orange) underground line and alight at Herrengasse

Journey time approximately 60 minutes from Vienna International Airport by public transport:

By metropolitan railway ("Schnellbahn"):
Take the S7 line to Wien Mitte, then change to the westbound U3 (orange) underground line and alight at Herrengasse

By airport bus:
At the Wien Westbahnhof terminal change to the westbound U3 (orange) underground line and alight at Herrengasse
