Large Salon of Empress Elisabeth

Bergl Room

These rooms are painted with trompe l’oeil landscape murals commissioned by Empress Maria Theresa and executed by Johann Wenzel Bergl.

The Bergl Room

Via a small passage room which used to contain a staircase down to the floor below and is painted with an exotic coastal landscape, the visitor enters a larger room which in Elisabeth’s time served as a wardrobe room and was furnished with tall fitted cupboards. This room is also painted with trompe l’oeil landscape murals commissioned by Empress Maria Theresa and executed by Johann Wenzel Bergl around 1766.
